Why You Should Plan A Visit To A Garden Center This Summer

If you are like most gardeners, you've already made multiple trips to your local garden center since the beginning of spring to get all your supplies for the new planting season. But you may not be planning on going back this summer. In fact, garden centers often experience a lull in business once the busy spring planting season is over. Visiting your garden center in the summer is a great way to pick up some bargains or to get supplies to start a new hobby.

Grab some bargains

Garden centers will soon be making room for fall items and are eager to clear out spring items, which makes summer a perfect time for bargain shopping. You may be able to pick up some leftover spring plants at a big discount, and there is still plenty of growing time left to plant them in a pot on your patio. You can also shop for clearance pots, gardening tools, garden gloves, etc.

Shop without the crowd

Garden center shopping in spring can be difficult when everyone is rushing to get their spring planting supplies. Summer shopping is less stressful, and you will be able to navigate the aisles with ease. You are also less likely to have long wait lines at the checkout.

Strike up a conversation with the staff

If you want to know more about exotic plants or want to find out why you have difficulty growing a specific kind of plant, etc., summer is a good time to strike up a conversation with your garden center staff. Since they are usually less busy, they will have time to provide you with the information you need. Whether you want to know more about growing herbs or starting plants from seeds, the garden center staff is a great source of information.

Get supplies for a new hobby

Want to create a fairy garden, start watching birds, or grow herbs to use in cooking? Visit your local garden center to get ideas for a new hobby and to pick up all the supplies you need. For instance, if you want to lure birds to your yard, you can purchase birdseed to attract a variety of birds and also grab some birdhouses and bird feeders while you are shopping.

Summertime is a great time to visit your local garden center. You do not have to fight the crowds like you do in the springtime and it's a great time to pick up some reduced items for next year. Visit a local garden center to learn more.
